Milwaukee Fire Department: Contractor sparks minor fire atop Pfister Hotel tower

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Fire Department was dispatched to the Pfister Hotel on Wisconsin Avenue on Wednesday, December 14th for a report of a fire on the roof of the hotel tower.

A FOX6 News viewer shared photos of the scene -- from a nearby building. You can see firefighters gathered at one location on the hotel tower's rooftop.

MFD officials say when they arrived on the scene, the Pfister staff had begun an evacuation of the building.

Firefighters got to the top of the hotel tower and discovered a contractor doing roof work had started a fire on the roof. The fire was contained to a small area of the roof. Some of the fire extended into the ceiling of the top floor.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire.
