"They simply wanted the opiates:" Wauwatosa police seek 2 suspects accused of robbing Swan Pharmacy

WAUWATOSA -- Wauwatosa police need your help identifying two suspects accused of robbing the Swan Pharmacy on North Avenue near Swan Boulevard on Wednesday, December 28th.

It's a crime that started in Chicago and ended in Wauwatosa. Now, police want the suspects caught before they continue their spree.

Police say two men entered the Swan Pharmacy in broad daylight on Wednesday, around 9:15 a.m. They had a weapon and a mission.

"It was a takeover-style robbery where they physically went behind the pharmacy counter, physically interacted with employees threatened employees, displayed a gun," said Lieutenant Brian Zalewski, Wauwatosa Police Department.

Surveillance photos show victims taking cover.

"You don't typically see that level of aggression or violence when you do have a robbery," said Lieutenant Zalewski.

The suspects didn't want cash, they got away with prescription narcotics.

"They simply wanted the opiates, the narcotics, then they were on their way in a matter of minutes," said Zalewski.

They dumped the stolen car about half a mile away next to a school near 91st and Clarke.

"It was parked on the side of the road abandoned with the driver side door open," said Zalewski.

Police believe they may have hopped in another car waiting for them.

"The fact that they stole a vehicle down in the south side of Chicago, then several hours later were up here to commit this robbery, seems like there was some sort of plan," said Zalewski.

Now, officials are hoping someone recognizes their photo to put an end to their spree.

"There's nothing to indicate that they'll stop until they're caught or they're forced to," said Zalewski.

Suspect #1 is described as a black man between the ages of 20 and 25, with a thin build. He was wearing a maroon “varsity style” jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and gray gloves.

Police said this man displayed a black semi-automatic handgun.

Suspect #2 is described as a black man between the ages of 20 and 25 with a thin build. He was wearing a gray/black jacket with a multi-colored scarf.

Police said these suspects should be considered armed and dangerous.
