MILWAUKEE — Emergency crews responded to a semi fire on I-94 in the Zoo Interchange Wednesday afternoon, May 31st.

The semi on fire was on the system ramp that serves I-894 northbound and I-41 southbound. Westbound I-94 was also closed due to this fire.

While officials were clearing the scene, drivers were asked to use an alternate route.

This happened around 2:30 p.m.

Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation said Wednesday evening a decision was made to keep the SB-WB and NB-WB ramps closed through Wednesday night’s previously scheduled overnight closures at 10:00 p.m. — so that they can work to repair damage from the crash.

At this point, there’s no word on what caused the fire, nor whether any injuries were suffered.
