Fire causes $150,000 in damages to 1800s farmhouse in Richfield

RICHFIELD -- A two story farmhouse built in the 1800s sustained heavy damage from a fire that happened in Richfield Saturday morning, September 16th.

Officials were called to the scene near Highway 145 and Cedar Lane shortly after 8:00 a.m.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, five people were home at the time of the fire. All of them evacuated with one of the adults being treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. The family is now received help from the Red Cross.

The fire does not appear to be suspicious at this time.

Officials say the estimated loss is $150,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Richfield Fire Department and the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Richfield Fire and Rescue received help fighting the fire by 13 other area Fire Departments that included Germantown, Hartford, West Bend, Allenton, Newburg,     St. Lawrence, Slinger, Jackson, Thiensville, Sussex, Merton, Lisbon and North Lake. They were further assisted by Lifestar Ambulance.

 

Wisconsin 145 at Cedar Lane was closed for approximately six hours during the fire.
