Police: Puppy bandits stole $5,000 'Frenchies' from Petland store

MONTGOMERY, Alabama — Police are looking for two people captured on video dashing out of an Alabama pet store with two French bulldog puppies worth thousands of dollars.

The owner of Petland Montgomery, Keith Evans, says a man and a woman spent about 40 minutes in the store Tuesday, October 24th, holding the two high-dollar dogs and asking questions.

Evans says they finally distracted a worker with a question and ran out with the Frenchies, which he says typically sell for as much as $5,000 each. Surveillance video shows a worker trying to stop the pair as they flee.

Police haven't located the pups, but Evans says he's hopeful since each animal is implanted with a microchip.

French bulldogs are more popular than ever, and Evans says the pair obviously targeted the female puppies.
