Watch: Video shows fiery crash after pursuit involving suspected drunk driver

GLENDALE -- Glendale police apprehended a suspected drunk driver following a pursuit and crash, which happened at I-43 and Locust.

It began around 1:00 p.m., when Brown Deer police say a Mequon man reported a black Dodge Ram pickup truck was trying to run him off the road while westbound on Brown Deer at Range Line. A second caller indicated the vehicle struck a sign on Brown Deer at Arbon, continuing westbound. A third caller reported the vehicle was eastbound on Brown Deer, running red lights near the Green Bay Road overpass.

The vehicle was observed on I-43 southbound and fled Bayside officers.

Glendale officers joined the pursuit at I-43 and Silver Spring. They tried to stop the driver, but were unsuccessful.

A pursuit ensued on the interstate. The driver exited at Locust, and lost control -- crashing into another vehicle and a pole.

The driver then jumped out and ran, police say. Glendale officers apprehended him after a short foot chase. Glendale police are pursuing possible OWI charges.

"If this doesn’t make a convincing case for getting a designated driver, I don’t know what does," a post on the Glendale Police Department's Facebook page reads.
