Wisconsin Humane Society to be joined by Bay Area, Door County Humane Societies

MILWAUKEE -- The Bay Area Humane Society (BAHS) and Door County Humane Society (DCHS) are expected to join the Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) as a way to strengthen their work for animals.

Both BAHS and DCHS were looking for an "ongoing framework that would reliably sustain their operations in the future." Since the three organizations have worked together in the past, officials believed this was a natural fit.

At this point, officials say there are no plans to merge the locations, lay off employees or reduce pay.

The move to consolidate the three humane societies was voted for unanimously in November. WHS hopes to close the transactions as early as the end of 2017.
