165 Sam's Club employees to be laid off from West Allis location

MILWAUKEE -- The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) reports 165 employees will be laid off by the closure of the West Allis Sam's Club.

Store officials made the announcement on Thursday, January 11th, they've "decided to close a series of clubs and better align our locations with our strategy."

    The DWD says the Employee Milwaukee Rapid Response Team will work with the employees affected to offer rapid response services.

    The world's largest private employer said it was closing 63 of its 660 Sam's Clubs over the next weeks, with some shut already.

    The West Allis Sam's Club store will close on January 26th.
