Sheboygan businessman Kurt Kober raises $150,000 for lieutenant governor race

MADISON — Democratic lieutenant governor candidate Kurt Kober has raised more than $150,000 for the race and has about $20,000 cash on hand.

Kober's campaign reported the fundraising Tuesday. Kober is a businessman from Sheboygan who is running his first campaign.

Former state Rep. Mandela Barnes, of Milwaukee, is also running for lieutenant governor. He does not need to file a fundraising update since he did not officially get in the race until earlier this month, after the reporting deadline.

Kober's campaign says he spent $26,000 of his own money on the race so far, which will help to "learn from past elections and utilize new tactics to have conversations with Wisconsinites."

The winner of the Aug. 14 lieutenant governor primary will be paired with the Democratic gubernatorial primary winner.
