Police: Girls ages 14, 15 in custody in connection with shooting that injured 13-year-old boy

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police said two suspects, girls ages 14 and 15 were arrested in connection with the shooting of a 13-year-old boy that happened Friday, Jan. 19 near 40th and Courtland.

Police said the suspects are tentatively facing charges of possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under the age of 18.

The shooting happened early Friday morning. Police responded around 4:40 a.m. The 13-year-old was shot in a home in the area.

"You could hear cars pulling up and screaming -- 'back off!'" said Miesha Heard, a concerned neighbor. "This block been trouble since the summertime -- mostly from that house."

Later in the day, police officers were seen going in and out of that home, while detectives gathered evidence.
