CALEDONIA — Caledonia police on Monday, Feb. 5 recovered the body of a missing person on the shoreline of Lake Michigan. Officials have identified the body as 58-year-old Christopher Crowell.

According to police, around 9:20 a.m. officers responded to a report of a missing adult. Officials say a family member contacted an off-duty police officer from another jurisdiction — who located the subject dead on the shoreline of Lake Michigan — on Waters Edge Road.

Authorities say Crowell apparently fell off an icy bluff near the pathway into Lake Michigan, after leaving his nearby residence.

Police say recovery of the victim was difficult due to the icy conditions surrounding the lake bluff. Caledonia Fire was assisted by various Village departments.

Anyone with information on this matter is asked to contact Capt. Brian Wall at 262-835-4423 ext. 139.
