First time in 12 years: Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign finishes short of goal

MILWUAKEE -- The total from The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County's 2017 Red Kettle Campaign is in  -- and it was $127,867 short of its $3.8 million goal.

Officials say this year's campaign brought in $3,672,133. This is the first time in 12 years that The Salvation Army has not reached its goal in Milwaukee County.

As a result, officials say they will need to evaluate all 80 programs and services The Salvation Army provides in Milwaukee County, and cut funding or staff time spent on certain programs and services. Eighty-seven cents of every dollar raised during the Red Kettle Campaign stays locally to help area men, women and children in need.
