Low rates of violent, property crime: Safewise.com identifies Wisconsin's 20 safest cities
FREEDOM -- Safewise.com has come out with a list of the 20 safest cities in Wisconsin for 2018.
Analysts identified the 20 safest cities in Wisconsin by taking a look at the FBI crime report statistics and population data. Cities that fell below identified population thresholds or that failed to submit a complete crime report to the FBI were excluded from the ranking system.
The list is based on the number of reported violent crimes in each city, and if there was a tie, property crimes were factored in. Analysts then calculated the rate of crimes per 1,000 people in each city.
Safewise.com notes that Wisconsin "exemplifies a deep commitment to fighting crime—and caring for crime victims," pointing to the fact that we were the first state in the nation to pass a crime victim bill of rights, along with Marsy's Law, which aims to strengthen crime victims’ rights under the Wisconsin constitution.
