Police: Man turns himself in after woman found beaten to death in Milwaukee



MILWAUKEE -- A man, 29, turned himself in to police Sunday, March 4 after a woman was beaten to death near 22nd and Townsend. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Morgan Huennekenss.

The suspect turned himself in on Sunday morning.

Crime scene tape criss-crossed the neighborhood as police blocked streets for hours. Soon, chilling information was revealed about what happened there.

According to neighbors, a body was found behind a string of homes, in the alley. Police said a homicide occurred late Saturday or early Sunday.

FOX6 News spoke with a dozen residents who live near the crime scene. Most said they didn't hear or see anything suspicious. One woman said she slept through the entire thing. She said the body was found near a shed.

Police said the victim suffered a blunt force injury and died as a result.

What's brought some comfort to neighbors Sunday was the fact that the suspect was in custody.

A motive hasn't yet been revealed.

The case will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office in the coming days for review.
