Act now: Monday, July 2 is the deadline for filing for Wisconsin's child tax rebate

MADISON — Wisconsin residents have only a few hours left to apply for Gov. Scott Walker's $100 per-child tax rebate.

Parents can file claims on the state Department of Revenue's childtaxrebate.wi.gov website through midnight Monday. The filing period began May 15.

Claimants must have a child who was under 18 as of Dec. 31, 2017. The child had to be the claimant's dependent for tax year 2017 and the child must be a U.S. citizen.

Democrats have accused Walker of setting up the rebate and a five-day sales tax holiday in August as nothing more than election-year bribes.
