8 Democratic candidates for governor gather for debate

MILWAUKEE — The eight Democratic candidates for governor are about to share a stage for their first broadcast debate ahead of the Aug. 14 primary.

The event Thursday night in Milwaukee comes as the candidates enter the final month of campaigning. The winner of the primary will face Republican Gov. Scott Walker.

The debate is 90 minutes.

The candidates are state Superintendent Tony Evers; state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout; Madison Mayor Paul Soglin; state firefighters president Mahlon Mitchell; former state Rep. Kelda Roys; former state party chairman Matt Flynn; political activist Mike McCabe; and corporate attorney Josh Pade.
