Memphis man wanted for shooting, killing his wife, another man arrested in Milwaukee



MILWAUKEE -- A Memphis man wanted for shooting and killing his wife and another man was arrested Sunday, July 22 in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee police confirmed for FOX6 News on Monday, July 23 Markese Gibbs, 38, was arrested Sunday at a motel near Appleton and Capitol. FOX6 was on scene amid a heavy police presence there, as MPD's "Special Investigations Division" and the "Tactical Enforcement Unit" responded, taking Gibbs into custody around 8:30 p.m.

Police confirmed Gibbs was wanted in connection with the double murder in Memphis.

According to our Tribune partners WREG, the shooting happened after an argument Saturday night in Frayser.

Arriving officers pronounced the man and woman dead at the scene.

WREG is reporting investigators have determined Gibbs was married to the woman who was killed.

Gibbs is facing two counts of first degree murder.
