MILWAUKEE -- Two people were injured after a home on Milwaukee's north side was struck by gunfire late Wednesday night, Aug. 9.

Police say several shots were fired into a home near 50th and Fairmount around 11:10 p.m.

"It was crazy because this is a nice neighborhood," a neighbor said.

"It was a ton of police officers. Right away they taped up our whole block," said Jocelyn Ward.

A 48-year-old man received a minor gunshot injury to his right shoulder, and was treated at the scene. He was resting on his couch when the gunfire started.

"He's friendly. You'll see him walking down the street. He is a really good person. It wasn't like an ordinary shooting with a gun. It sounded like a shotgun going off," said Ward.

A second victim, a 20-year-old man, received injuries not believed to be life-threatening, and was taken to a hospital by an associate.

"Bullets are flying inside your home now. Not safe in your own home. It is ridiculous," said Mac Hart.

Hart said he's frustrated by the senseless violence.

"That is so stupid. Why? You can't handle your problems with a gun," said Hart.

"I'm starting to get scared about letting my children outside. I hope he turns himself in for what he did," said Ward.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.
