'Made a big mess:' Suspects come up empty handed in 2 separate burglary attempts
MILWAUKEE -- The search is on to find a couple of thieves that don't appear to be the smoothest or most successful criminals. They did, however, make quite the entrance. According to police, the suspects are connected to two burglaries that happened early Wednesday, Sept. 5 and early Thursday, Sept. 6.
Around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, inside the Bollywood Grill on Jackson Street near Juneau, a surveillance camera noticed some movement outside.
"He made a big mess for us. We're still cleaning," said Bobby Singh, Bollywood Grill owner.
A shelf in the restaurant's market area was toppled to the floor. Owner Bobby Singh says the thief darted away after making a bunch of noise -- but he returned shortly after.
"We saw in his hand a screwdriver," said Singh.
The thief used the screwdriver to open what was once a service window.
After some use of manpower, the crook climbed inside. As he walked deeper into the restaurant, he tripped an alarm.
"The alarm went off. I don't know if he's scared. Maybe police going to come right away so he jumped out," said Singh.
The man tumbled back into the street. As it turns out, he wasn't alone.
Surviellance images from a second camera show the thief with a suspected accomplice.
"Two guys walk by and then they start breaking the door. Then they couldn't get in so they tried this window," said Singh.

While the suspects faces are clearly captured on video, one suspect tried to cover his face before making his move inside.
Milwaukee police say this isn't the only place they hit up that night.
The two were also inside the Starbucks at the Hilton Center Complex on Wisconsin Avenue, where police say they tried unsuccessfully to break into a locked cash register.

Singh says after making a mess and spending 30 seconds in the Bollywood Grill, the thieves got away with nothing.
Officials describe both suspects as male, black, 20 to 25 years old, weighing 150 to 165 pounds with a slim build and short black hair.
The first suspect was last seen wearing a white tank top, dark blue jeans and blue shoes. The second suspect was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt, blue jean shorts and white tennis shoes.
