PEWAUKEE -- Police are investigating a suspicious death at a residence near Meadow Creek and Lexington in the Village of Pewaukee. Officials are speaking with a person of interest after being at the scene for hours.

"We've never had any issues in the 31 years that I've been here," said David Keihl, neighbor.

With police squads and a command post just down the road, the investigation -- lasting hours -- has a lot of neighbors on edge.

"I don't want to use the word unnerving but it is," Flesses said.

Officials said in a Facebook post, officers were called to the residence around 10:40 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3 for a welfare check.

"Since then we are investigating a suspicious death," said Lt. Matthew Carney, Village of Pewaukee Police Department.

Pewaukee police asked for help from several police departments regarding the suspicious nature of the investigation.

A woman who lives across the street says she's always had a weird feeling about the complex.

"Something about those condos didn't sit right with me," the woman said.

The biggest question is, what happened?

"He couldn't tell me anything that's just the way it is," said Flesses.

It's a question with very little answers as police say it's an open investigation.
