54-year-old man suffers life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a semi on I-43

OZAUKEE COUNTY -- A 54-year-old Illinois man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a semi on I-43 near WIS 32 in Ozaukee County Monday evening, Jan. 21.

Officials with the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office said around 6:30 p.m., deputies responded to the crash north of State Highway 60 in the Town of Grafton.

The victim had pulled his Jeep onto the shoulder of I-43 southbound, and a semi headed southbound struck him when he walked into the semi's lane.

The man was taken to Froedtert Hospital via Flight for Life.

The semi driver, a 32-year-old Missouri man, was not hurt.



The southbound lanes reopened after 8:30 p.m. The northbound lanes reopened around 7 p.m.
