MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee police officer was struck by a vehicle and injured in a hit-and-run near 24th and Capitol on Monday night, Jan. 21.

It began with a traffic stop. Police said the driver who was pulled over got out and pulled the officer to safety after the crash -- performing CPR until paramedics arrived.

Meanwhile, showing no remorse or concern, three suspects were captured by surveillance cameras running away from the crash scene.

"I feel for the officer who got hurt," said Deacon Luther Webb, New Creatures in Christ Fellowship Church.

Webb shared video from the church, and said he was stunned by the suspects' reckless actions.

"It's really crazy. It's really crazy to me," said Webb.

"Hit a parked car and ended up pinning the officer against the car that he had stopped. A vehicle then fled the scene and was involved in a crash approximately a block down," said Steven Caballero, Milwaukee Police Department.

One woman came out of her business and noticed her car was wrecked.

"I see an officer's car. A truck sitting there with the lights on. I began to scream -- 'help, help, help. He just hit my car. He is running that way.' I run down there. I seen an officer in the street," said the woman.

She realized the officer was in need of help.

"When I first walked up, he was unresponsive," the woman said. "I don't think (the suspects) have a conscience."

Figueroa suffered extensive injuries.

"We are going to be praying for him. I hope he gets through this," said Webb. "He was doing his job. He was in the right place at the wrong time."
