NOAA satellites capture remarkable view of polar vortex from space

MILWAUKEE -- It's a view of Mother Nature's fury during a polar vortex that you can only see from space -- and it's spectacular.

A NOAA GOES satellite captured the image below -- showing lake effect snow in the Great Lakes region.



Also, it's so cold and dry over the Midwest that land features are showing up in the GOES East satellite as a low level water vapor band. Can you spot the Great Lakes and the Ohio River?
