'Just tragic:' Suspect takes off with man's van after shooting him dead at Milwaukee gas station

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened at the BP gas station near 27th and Lisbon early Friday morning, Feb. 1. The murder was cold-blooded and almost seemed calculated.

Surveillance video shows a van roll into the BP gas station, and the driver exit the vehicle and head into the store. When the driver returns to the van and opens the door, it seems someone inside opened fire. The victim fell to the ground.

"I feel so sad," said Sandra Boss, concerned resident.

"It's just tragic," said Larry Green, concerned resident.

Gas station customers are taken aback not only by the crime but the callousness of it all.

Surveillance video shows someone hop into the driver's seat of the van and take off -- leaving the 47-year-old man to die.

"I don't understand how someone can get into someone's car and do something like that and take off. And they are still out here somewhere, it's kind of scary," said Maria Harvey, concerned resident.

Knowing the shooter remains on the streets, residents say crimes like this affect everyone.

"You don't know who you can trust and who you can't in your neighborhood," said Green.

"You have to keep your mind and eyes open at all times," said Boss.
