Wintry mix makes for slick Wednesday morning commute, power restored to 11K+



MILWAUKEE -- A winter weather advisory was extended until 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 for all of southeast Wisconsin, as freezing drizzle lingered in the area. The icy conditions caused some scattered power outages across the area.

We Energies officials said crews restored power to more than 11,000 customers, and noted that for the most part, these outages were related to the weather, with ice either building up on equipment or causing tree branches to fall on power lines.



Crews were preparing for the next round of wintry weather, with another winter weather advisory set to take effect at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 until 6 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7. We Energies officials said crews were on standby in case they were needed.

Meanwhile, they encouraged customers to have an emergency kit ready to go. You're asked to call We Energies if you experience an outage to make sure a crew is dispatched ASAP. They will also send you updates on repairs. The number to call is 800-662-4797.

We Energies restored power to more than 11,000 customers across our service area. For the most part, the outages were weather related. Ice either built up on our equipment or caused tree branches to fall on our lines. As you can see from the outage map—we are currently down to about 600 customers without power.



Officials with the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department issued the below details regarding weather-related calls for service beginning Tuesday night:

Between Tuesday, Feb. 5 starting at approximately 6 p.m. until Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 8 a.m. deputies responded to the following weather and traffic related calls:


    The Division of Emergency Management reported more than 100 customers without power as of 9 a.m.
