1 killed, 1 injured in wrong-way, head-on crash in West Bend

WEST BEND -- A 43-year-old man was killed and a 31-year-old woman injured in a two-vehicle crash in West Bend on Friday night, March 8.

The man who died was identified as Jason Lisko of the Town of Jackson.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. at Highway 33 and Riesch Drive in the Town of Barton in Washington County. A witness told authorities the driver of the first vehicle was trapped inside the car with no signs of life.

Upon the arrival of first responders, it was confirmed the driver of the first vehicle was deceased.

The operator of the second vehicle involved in the crash had no apparent injuries, and was released. The passenger of the second vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with leg and back injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed the first vehicle was eastbound in the westbound lanes on Highway 33, heading in the opposite direction of traffic. The second vehicle was heading westbound on Highway 33 in the left lane. Subsequently, the vehicles collided head-on.

The westbound lanes of Highway 33 were closed for approximately three hours following the incident to facilitate the investigation and cleanup.

This was Washington County's first traffic fatality of 2019.
