Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery allowed to reopen after pest infestation

MILWAUKEE -- Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery in downtown Milwaukee was allowed to reopen Monday, March 11. This, after a pest infestation involving dead and live cockroaches.

Officials with the Milwaukee Health Department inspected the restaurant on Monday, March 11. An inspection report showed inspectors found no live cockroaches in the kitchen and basement areas, and no dead cockroades in those areas. The report said the operator was advised to clean all evidence of dead cockroaches in common basement areas under landlord control.

The MHD order to cease operations was lifted after Monday's inspection.

The operator was advised to clean and maintain clean all evidence of pests, and routinely inspect facilities for insects and rodents.

A "routine inspection grade placard" must be displayed until all corrections are made.

The report said a re-inspection would take place on Friday, March 15.

The restaurant was closed through the weekend, after an "order to cease operations" was issued Thursday, March 7, when inspectors visited and found "numerous live and dead cockroaches seen in the kitchen area and in the basement area where some food is stored."
