MILWAUKEE — A 27-year-old man was shot and killed after breaking into a home in Milwaukee Tuesday night, March 12. It happened around 8:45 p.m. near 65th and Congress.

Police say it appears the 27-year-old man broke into a home and stole items. Officials say the individual who lived in the residence returned home while the 27-year-old man was there — and allegedly shot him.

The 27-year-old man sustained serious gunshot wounds. Lifesaving efforts were conducted by officials at the scene, however, the man passed away.

The resident fled the scene before officers arrived.

The Milwaukee Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances and are searching for a named suspect.
