'Critical incident' reported to Hartland police was falsely reported, 'did not occur'

VILLAGE OF HARTLAND -- Hartland police were dispatched to a "life-threatening critical incident" on Ridgeway Place in the Village of Hartland around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9. But it turned out, that event was "falsely reported and did not occur," officials said.

Officers from Chenequa, Delafield as well as the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department responded to this event. Hartland Elementary South was also placed on lockdown as a safety precaution. Some adults outside the school said people were getting notifications on their phones.

"I grew up in Hartland, which was quite a while ago, but I've never heard of a shooting in this area," said Elizabeth Landowski.

Officials said, however, after the investigation was complete, it was determined there was no further danger to the community due to this incident.

The incident remained under investigation by the Hartland Police Department.
