Police need help to ID man wanted for attempted abduction; neighbors say he looks familiar

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Police Department needs the public’s help identifying a man wanted for an attempted abduction that occurred on W. Fond du Lac Avenue just north of Mill Road on Sunday, May 5.

Police said the man approached the victim shortly after 11 a.m., put his hands over her mouth and attempted to pull her into his vehicle. The victim was able to get away from the and contact police.

"It's very terrifying, yeah. I'm just going to pray on it. I pray that the guy will get caught as soon as possible," said Keeley Culpepper.

Police described the man as African-American, between the ages of 20 and 30, standing 5'6" tall, weighing 150 pounds with black hair. He was wearing a black shirt with a Champion logo on it, a red hat, blue jeans and red tennis shoes. He was last seen driving a white 2002  Hyundai Sonata with Wisconsin license plates ADJ-6513 -- with a driver's side headlight apparently missing.

Some people FOX6 News spoke with who live nearby and others who work in the strip mall said the vehicle and the man looked familiar.

"I never saw his face," said Culpepper. "I have a daughter. She's 5, and I actually stay right behind where it happened."

Anyone with any information was urged to contact the Milwaukee Police Department at 414-935-7360.
