Dive Team searches Sheboygan River after report of person diving in, not resurfacing

SHEBOYGAN — A report of a person diving in the Sheboygan River and not resurfacing prompted an emergency response from officials on Tuesday, May 22.

The call came in to Sheboygan police shortly before 11 a.m.

Officers, the Coat Guard and Sheboygan County Dive Team responded and began searching the land and water for anyone who may have been in the water — and for possible witnesses who may have been someone go into the water.

No evidence was found to substantiate that someone had entered the river or was in distress, police said.

The search was called off, pending the development of additional information.
