MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police recovered 12 illegally possessed firearms after executing a search warrant on the city's north side on Friday, May 24. Many of the guns are high-powered firearms.

The morning of the raid, people living near 42nd and Fiebrantz woke up to what sounded like gunfire.

"I opened up the door, police had kicked in the door and shot a flash bang up in there. It's a shock to people that's up in there. It's a real loud percussion pressure and it dazes you for a minute," said a concerned neighbor.

"That's why I keep the kids in the backyard. They don't play in the front because anything can go down here," the concerned neighbor said.

Marci Spoke wonders if the raid is connected to recent reports of shots fired in the area.

"This is not the Wild West," said Spoke.

While thankful for the good police work, Spoke says it's scary to think that kind of illegal activity was going on in her neighborhood and without anyone's knowledge.

"I don't know what the intentions are with these guns and the story behind them but it's very concerning," said Spoke.

Police have not released information about the suspect but the case has already been referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for criminal charges.
