Police release identity of body found in Beaver Dam River

BEAVER DAM -- A body found in waters of the Beaver Dam River on Saturday, June 1, has been identified as 48-year-old George Stodola of Beaver Dam.

According to the Beaver Dam Police Department, two kayakers found Stodola's body in the river south of Cooper Street, and north of Highway 151.

The Dodge County Medical Examiner pronounced him deceased, however, the manner of death is still unknown and the circumstances leading up to his death are under investigation.

Tuesday, June 4, Beaver Dam officials say they found an abandoned kayak in the river on Saturday. It's unclear if the kayak belonged to Stodola, and there's no indication that it was ever used by him.
