Violent 24 hours: 3 dead, 4 injured in 6 separate incidents in Milwaukee



MILWAUKEE -- Three people were killed and four others were injured in Milwaukee on Sunday, June 2. There were six different crime scenes.

It all started around 1:30 a.m., when police were dispatched to a residence near 24th and Becher to investigate the sudden death of a 53-year-old woman. Detectives worked closely with a forensic investigator from the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office and determined that the victim’s death was suspicious. A cause of death wasn't immediately revealed, but detectives were treating the case as a homicide. An arrest was made, police said.

About an hour later, around 2:30 a.m., police were on scene near 12th and Concordia, where two 17-year-old boys were shot and wounded in a home in the area. Police were investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The victims were taken to the hospital by the Milwaukee Fire Department for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Shortly before 3 a.m., police were dispatched to the area near 9th and Ring, where a 32-year-old man suffered a serious gunshot wound. A preliminary investigation revealed he was shot while seated in a vehicle that crashed into a fence. Police were investigating the circumstances surrounding this shooting. The Milwaukee Fire Department took the victim to the hospital for treatment.

On Sunday afternoon around 1 p.m., a woman walked into MPD's District 5 and said she fatally stabbed her girlfriend. Police found a 54-year-old woman in a Housing Authority building near 26th and National. She'd been stabbed multiple times, and died from her injuries. The woman who walked into the MPD station was arrested. The circumstances leading up to the stabbing were under investigation.

Shortly before 4 p.m., police were on scene near 28th and Meinecke to check the welfare of an unresponsive man sitting in a vehicle. They found a 38-year-old man who had been shot multiple times and died from his injuries. Police were investigating exactly what time he was shot.



Shortly before 5 p.m., police said a 35-year-old man walked into a hospital seeking treatment of his injuries -- indicating he was shot around 4 p.m. near 16th and Lincoln. He said he was walking in the area when he heard several gunshots. He then felt pain and realized he'd been hit. He was taken to the hospital by an associate for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
