Man taken into custody following standoff in Fond du Lac, 3 children safe

FOND DU LAC -- A 27-year-old man was taken into custody Tuesday morning, June 4 after he armed himself with a knife and barricaded himself inside an apartment in Fond du Lac. Three children were also inside the residence.

Officers were called to a residence on E. Johnson Street around 4:15 a.m. after receiving a call about a man who was  "acting unusual." The caller indicated the man was running around naked in the street.



When officers arrived on scene, the man was armed with a knife. Officers attempted to negotiate with the suspect and the City of Fond du Lac Police Department SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams were activated.

One of the children was able to escape the residence during negotiations.

Around 9:10 a.m., SWAT team members used an explosive breach to make entry into the residence -- where they were able to rescue the two remaining children.  The suspect was also taken into custody by SWAT Officers without further incident.



No one was injured in the incident.

The suspect is going to be held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on charges stemming from this incident.
