MILWAUKEE -- Three people were injured following a police pursuit of a stolen car in Milwaukee on Saturday, June 22. The chase ended in a violent crash near Fond du Lac and Locust.

"It shook us. We ran outside. I didn't know which way to go," said Michelle, lives near crash scene.

Milwaukee police were chasing a stolen vehicle when they say the driver ran a red light and slammed into another vehicle in the intersection.

"The car was on fire," said Tarek Mohany, witness. "It was on fire for a little bit."

Witnesses say the young man driving the stolen car tried to run. Police arrested him and another teen at the scene.





The other driver, in the vehicle that was struck, was trapped inside her mangled car. Firefighters worked for more than an hour to remove her from the wreckage.

"That was my first concern, how is the innocent person? When I think and heard is that that person is going to be OK," Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said.



Mayor Tom Barrett came across the scene and stopped to speak with investigators. He called the crash "insane."

"Obviously the message here is, how dangerous it is for young people to get behind the wheel of a car and flee from police. This is what you end up in," said Mayor Barrett.

The incident remains under investigation.
