MILWAUKEE -- A police chase that started in Brookfield ended in a violent multi-vehicle crash near 58th and Capitol in Milwaukee on Friday, July 5.

The crash left a mangled mess; a light pole knocked over and pieces of vehicles strewn about.

"It sounded like a bomb or something. It was just bad," said Linda Rucker, witness. "I just heard a lot of squeaking sounds and all of a sudden it just exploded."

Brookfield police say around 7:20 p.m., they spotted a stolen vehicle near 128th and Capitol. They tried stopping it but the driver kept going.

The chase continued from Brookfield to Milwaukee. Police say they ended the pursuit near 68th and Capitol, but the stolen SUV continued to speed.

"I seen him slowing down on this end and that's when I thin he flipped over and started rolling and he collided with the incoming traffic," said Sam Mustafa, witness.

The stolen SUV slammed into at least two other cars just outside of Linda Rucker's home.

"We all jumped out the porch and ran to the front and it was just a mess. It was like a whole cloud of smoke and everything. It was real bad," said Rucker.

The remnants of the crash remain a day later. Those who live and work in the area say the scene is all too familiar.

"We really need to stop this because we're hurting other innocent people and it's just crazy," said Rucker.

They want drivers to be cautious and listen to the law so this doesn't happen again.

"It's a high-speed road. I think people need to slow down," Mustafa said.

Brookfield police say the suspects as well as an occupant of another vehicle were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. We are told charges are pending.
