Police: Lifeguard pulled 3-year-old boy from public pool in Elm Grove

ELM GROVE -- A 3-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after he was pulled from the public swimming pool in Elm Grove Wednesday, July 10.

Police said the boy went under water at the Village of Elm Grove Swimming Pool on Juneau Boulevard  -- and he was pulled out by a lifeguard.

Police say the boy appeared to be in the water alone and unsupervised for approximately three minutes. After floating into deeper water, the child became submerged and eventually extended his arm out of the water. That's when a lifeguard entered the pool and removed the child from the water.

Pool staff provided cardiac chest compressions. The boy then expelled fluids from his mouth and began breathing on his own. He was taken to Children's Hospital.

His condition wasn't immediately known.

This incident remains under investigation and is being reviewed by the Waukesha County District Attorney's Office.
