Firefighters extinguish scrap metal fire at United Milwaukee Scrap

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee firefighters responded to a fire at United Milwaukee Scrap near 35th and Townsend Sunday afternoon, July 14.

According to fire officials, a fire broke out at the scrapyard, and a piece of scrap metal was burning.

MFD officials said it may have started by spontaneous combustion, but could not immediately confirm that.

There were no buildings in any danger.

The official cause was under investigation.
