'Moon Day:' Milwaukee Public Museum celebrates 50th anniversary of Apollo 11

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Public Museum celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing with Moon Day!

At the event there were all sorts of space-themed activities including, making paper rockets, launching balloon rockets in the courtyard, and perhaps the coolest things were seeing some of the NASA artifacts collected over the years.

It's something one organizer says he's excited for each year.

"Pretty cool for me for me. I was a little 8-year-old when this happened, watching a black and white TV, everything was kinda grainy. But I've studied it and every anniversary this comes around and it's just a fun thing to do because we've always dreamed of going to the moon and we finally did it. It's quite spectacular," said Bob Bonadurer, director of the Daniel M. Soref Dome Theater.

The Milwaukee Public Museum's planetarium is also getting in on the fun by showing the film "Apollo 11 Stargazing" for the rest of the month.
