Bublr expands in Milwaukee to include adaptive bikes for people with disabilities

MILWAUKEE -- Bublr Bikes is expanding its service in Milwaukee to include adaptive bikes for people with disabilities.

The city announced the pilot program on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Bublr will offer users a variety of adaptive cycles—including upright tricycles, handcycles, and twoperson side-by-side tricycles—as part of a pilot program through the Department of Public Works (DPW).

“Milwaukee is making history. We’re the first major U.S. city to integrate adaptive cycles into the docked public bike share system,” said Mayor Tom Barrett. “This program demonstrates our commitment to making bike share and our great city accessible to everyone.”

Each adaptive cycle will be compatible with Bublr bike share stations found across the City. Users will be able to find an available adaptive cycle and check it out just like the two-wheeled Bublr bicycles.

During the week of August 5, 2019, six of the adaptive bikes will go live, following by the remaining 11 at a later date. The complete adaptive bike fleet will consist of:
