California mother suspected of killing 2 daughters

ONTARIO, Calif. — California authorities say they believe an infant girl and her teenage sister found dead at home were intentionally killed by their mother, who is unresponsive in a hospital.

Ontario police Sgt. Bill Russell said Wednesday the mother left a suicide note making her intentions clear.

The 4-month-old girl and her 14-year-old sister were found dead Tuesday by their father in the home east of Los Angeles.

Russell says the cause of death hasn't been determined, but there was evidence of a struggle that could be a factor.

The nature of the mother's medical condition has not been released. Russell says she's not expected to die.

He says the mother has been dealing with depression.

She has not yet been charged and her name was being withheld until investigators talk to her.
