'Out of control:' 14-year-old driver crashed during police chase near 60th and Philip

MILWAUKEE -- A wild night for one 14-year-old Waukesha teen came to a crashing halt -- after police said he led officers on a high-speed chase in Milwaukee Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Milwaukee police say the teen was arrested after crashing into a median near 60th and Philip around 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say the vehicle was first spotted traveling at high speeds near 21st and Locust, but reckless driving wasn't the only red flag. Police say the vehicle also matched the description of a car involved in an armed robbery.

"It's out of control," said Michael Gill, neighbor.

Gill says he constantly sees cars fly through the neighborhood -- drivers ignoring street lights and stop signs.

"This generation... you wonder if they got their license out of a cereal box or something, the way they're going that fast," said Gill.

Gill says in the past, vehicles have ended up on his lawn.

"The tree is almost split in half, it's been hit so many times," said Gill.

Around 3 a.m. -- about three miles away -- the chase ended near 60th and Philip, when the driver crashed into a median.

Police said the 14-year-old was arrested near the scene.

According to police, no other vehicles were involved, and it did not appear anyone was hurt.
