'I will shoot up this school 5th Grade:' Lockdown lifted at Salem Grade School after 'written threat'

SALEM -- Salem Grade School in Kenosha County was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning, Sept. 18  after a "written threat" was found inside the school.

Sheriff's officials said the discovery was made around 9:30 a.m. by school administration. A handwritten threat was found inside a women's bathroom stall at the school.

School administration was made aware of the words “I will shoot up this school 5th Grade” and immediately placed Salem Grade School into lockdown and notified the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded to the school and were working closely with school officials to  investigate this threat.

Additional deputies were assigned to provide security in the area and around the exterior of the school as this investigation continued.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., the lockdown was lifted, and students continued their normal routine.

Deputies remained at the school and were set to be there until students left for the day Wednesday.

Sheriff's officials asked that anyone with information please call the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department.
