SHEBOYGAN — Sheboygan police were dispatched to S. Business Drive on Monday evening, Sept. 23 “regarding a disturbance.” Police said one person was killed, and another was arrested. Officials arrived on the scene shortly after 5 p.m. and secured the area.
Upon arrival, a 22-year-old man approached officers and, while being detained, informed them that there was a subject suffering from gunshot wounds in a vehicle at the end of the parking lot. A firearm was recovered from the 22-year-old man.
The officers located a 57-year-old man deceased in a vehicle in the parking lot. The man has been identified as a Manitowoc resident. A large frame firearm was also recovered from within the vehicle.
The 22-year-old man was cooperative and gave a statement that he had driven the deceased man to the area so he could obtain funds to pay for work that had been done on his vehicle.
While in the parking lot the deceased man pulled a handgun and a struggle ensued inside the vehicle. During the struggle the 22-year-old man was able to retrieve his own handgun and fired two shots at the 57-year-old man.
The investigation is ongoing and will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office for review when complete.
