2 injured, 1 seriously, following crash in Ozaukee County, alcohol and drugs appear to be factor

NEWBURG -- Two people were injured, one seriously, follow a two-vehicle crash Wednesday night, Oct. 9 on State Highway 33 just east of Singing Hill Road in the Town of Saukville. It happened around 10:40 p.m.

According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, a 2012 Kia Sol operated by a 22-year-old man from Port Washington was traveling eastbound on State Highway 33 when he crossed the centerline, striking a Dodge Grand Caravan traveling westbound.

The Grand Caravan was being operated by a 67-year-old man from West Bend. He was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released.

The 22-year-old man from Port Washington was transported to Froedtert Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

State Highway 33 was closed for approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes while the investigation was conducted. Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident with assistance from Saukville and Mequon Police Departments.

Officials say alcohol and drugs appear to be a factor.
