3 women accused of assaults at assisted living facility

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — An investigation by police in North Carolina has led to charges against three women accused of assaulting people with disabilities and encouraging residents at an assisted living facility to fight.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports police received reports in June of elder abuse at Danby House in Winston-Salem.

Winston-Salem Police investigators and the NC Department of Health and Human Resources looked into the reports and also determined at least one employee assaulted one of the residents by shoving them.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fighting.

Two workers were arrested on Oct. 2 and Oct. 3, and a third employee was arrested Thursday. Two were given bond and a third was released from custody on a written promise to appear in court.
