Multiple departments battle house fire in downtown Slinger; no injuries reported

SLINGER -- Multiple departments were called out to a house fire on Washington Street near Oak Street in Slinger Sunday night, Nov. 24.

It happened shortly before 7:30 p.m., and the response blocked roads in the heart of downtown Slinger.

Slinger police said no injuries had been reported.

When officers and firefighters arrived on scene, they found fire contained to the rear of the home.

Several agencies were called out to the scene in an effort to prevent the spread of fire, as buildings in the area are very close to each other. FOX6's cameras captured crews using chainsaws to cut into the roof of the home, as white smoke billowed from the second story.

The homeowner's son told FOX6 he walked outside and noticed the back of the house was engulfed in flames. He said he quickly called police and his stepmother was able to safely evacuate.

A number of family members were on scene and said it was hard to watch the flames taking over their home, but they said they were grateful for the response from firefighters and police.

Family said this was actually the second time a fire happened at the home.

Investigators were working to determine the cause.
