Sheriff: Man out on bond on charges tied to 6th OWI offense arrested for OWI

RACINE COUNTY -- Charges were filed Tuesday, Dec. 3 against a Rochester man accused of operating while intoxicated -- again. Prosecutors said he drove with a revoked license while out on bond for OWI.

The arrest happened Monday afternoon, Dec. 2 around 4 p.m.

George Posanski faces three felonies and two misdemeanors:

A criminal complaint listed his prior OWI convictions:

Posanski was stopped in the area near Browns Lake Drive and Front Street after witnesses called in a reckless driver reported to be deviating from his lane, crossing the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic, and then overcorrecting over the fog line. This, after the complaint said Posanski pulled out of the Menards parking lot in Burlington. The complaint said at one point, Posanski's vehicle crossed the center line with a school bus approaching.

When deputies made contact with Posanski, prosecutors said he admitted to having one beer and refused field sobriety testing.

Investigators found he had a dog in the vehicle, which was turned over to family.

A further search of the vehicle revealed three cans of beer, 16 empty cans of beer, an open bottle of Bailey's, and a pipe that tested positive for THC. Posanski was taken to the hospital for a blood draw, and investigators learned he had five prior OWI convictions and was out on bond for another OWI. The complaint said Posanski was in court Nov. 21 for an OWI case out of Racine County in which cash bond was set at $1,500.

His license was revoked for three years in 2012 due to an OWI conviction.
