Snowmobiler dies after crash involving truck on NB WIS 57 in Ozaukee County

OZAUKEE COUNTY -- A snowmobiler is dead following a crash involving a flatbed truck in Ozaukee County on Tuesday, Feb. 18.  A stretch of northbound WIS 57 was temporarily closed from Meadowlark Road to Fredonia Avenue due to the crash.

It happened around 7:06 p.m.

Officials say a 1998 Polaris snowmobile operated by a 51-year-old man from Fredonia was westbound on the snowmobile trail over State Highway 57 when he collided with a Ford F-450 flatbed truck that was traveling northbound on State Highway 57.

The snowmobiler, identified as 51-year-old William Redmond, was ejected from the snowmobile and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sections of both northbound lanes on State Highway 57 were shut down until approximately 10:14 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team.
